Enjoy the outdoors annoyance-free with these essential oil sprays!

To use: Mist on skin, hair, and clothes before going outside, or spray in the air in your outdoor space. Using this for children? Read the article about using essential oils with kids first.

Recipe #1:

  • 6 drops Peppermint
  • 6 drops Melaleuca Alternifolia or Citronella
  • 9 drops Idaho Tansy

Mix together and use undiluted or diluted with small amount of water.

Recipe #2:

  • 6 Drops Idaho Tansy
  • 6 Drops Palo Santo

Mix together and use undiluted or diluted with small amount of water.

Recipe #3 (Thanks to Terry for this recipe!):
Add to an 8-oz spray bottle:

  • 10 drops Thieves (Has lemon, rosemary, clove & cinnamon & eucalyptus
  • 10 drops Purification (Contains Citronella)
  • 10 drops Melrose
  • 10 drops Cedarwood (Proven to make Citronella more effective)
  • 10 drops Eucalyptus Blue or Globulus
  • 10 drops Palo Santo
  • 10 drops Peppermint
  • 10 drops Idaho Tansy
  • Lemongrass & Lemon & Geranium if you have them at home can be added

Fill to the top with distilled water, or use V-6 (carrier oil) or grain-based alcohol instead of water to cause the spray lasting longer on the body. Could also mix with part witch hazel.

This gives you a large bottle to last awhile and makes for an amazing bottle to carry around & share.

Other oils to try when you’re headed outside:

Palo Santo, Lemon, Idaho Tansy, Citronella, Peppermint, Melaleuca Alternifolia, Geranium, Rosemary, Lemongrass, Thyme, Spearmint, Purification, Melrose, Thieves. (Clove & Cinnamon are also researched and Lavender worked well also).
