Success in athletics, sports, and fitness requires three main ingredients—regular practice or exercise, good nutrition, and a good coach who can refine and hone skills or techniques. Likewise, spiritual fitness has three necessary components:
- Regularly training our minds and senses to discern between right and wrong (Hebrews 5:14, Romans 12:1-2)
- A regular diet that feeds the spirit (Galatians 6:8-9, John 4:34)
- A commitment to heed the instructions of our spiritual coach, the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:13, Galatians 5:22-25).
