Whether you’re a soon-to-be mom, or already have some young ones, mix up this easy recipe to an enjoyable outdoor experience! Here’s a good recipe oil blend you can try for yourself and your young children. (Use discretion to further dilute with V6 oil according to the age of your child.)
Recipe 1:
Use equal amounts of Young Living’s Peppermint, Melaleuca alternifolia, and Lavender oils in a small quantity of V6 oil or any carrier oil of your choice. Apply to your ankles, neck, arms, and other exposed skin before going outside.
Recipe 2:
Use a spray bottle, add distilled water and add a few drops of Citronella, Lemongrass, or Purification™ essential oils. You can make it as mild (a few drops to 8 oz) or strong (a bit more than a few drops) as as you want. Have your children spray on themselves as well. Maybe use your empty 4oz Thieves spray bottle for this. (Make enough to divide between the number of empty bottles you have; it’s an ideal size for little hands!) Spray onto your skin to protect yourself before going outside.
Safe for pregnancy?
I was asked the question: Can pregnant moms use Lemongrass (in the above recipe)? The Essential Oil Desk Reference (Safety Data section in Appendix) reveals that the above oils are safe for pregnant women. The only one mention made was that Lemongrass (if undiluted) may cause skin irritation.
Note: The EPA has not approved essential oils as “Bug Repellant” so we are not able to use that label on any of our recipes.
